I know who can identify them but they can only do it once a week. Izuminokami's role apparently got information about it, but...I don't know how it all worked. He never got to explain the whole thing to me, and knowing how this works that role is going to shift to someone else.

So, it's possible. But we have to make sure they themselves don't get possessed.

Speaking of, have you managed to find whoever Escha's might have gone to...?

Don't exactly know if there's any way to guarantee our roles won't get possessed, though.

Not surprised about that either, I suppose. It's lucky we haven't had anyone possessed who could do some harm with whatever role they ended up with - assuming the demon could utilize the role.

Yeah. I'm not too happy with it and I still think she's kind of arrogant and frustrating, but...this is what we have now. [He's not too thrilled. He respects Edelgard enough but goddamn what a move.]

That's the question I have, but I doubt anyone would be able to tell us. It's one of those things that's gonna have to happen before we'll even know. By then it'll be too late.

Well someone voted for her at the last minute so it's likely going to earn her a few grudges. I'll try to minimize damage where I can. We also don't know exactly how it would work because we've never seen her role in action. That's the dangerous part.

It's possible, yeah. I've found...almost all of them now just from asking around and there are possibilities that could help or hurt us. Nothing as brutal as what Izuminokami could do, but it's about choices.

Yeah. I didn't find out until Thursday and it was only after I talked to Kagachi. I think that ws why Izuminokami mentioned it in my note. The demon holding Illumi hostage apparently was pissed.

What I find interesting is that our two demon friends weren't aware of each other.

Mm... I wonder why? Just to lose to our side in general? They don't exactly seem to have any real allegiance or even fondness toward each other, after all.

[The thought that Kanesada really was killed out of vengeance though... Oof. At least Wei Wuxian, knowing what he knows, feels like Kanesada would rather die having done something than live doing nothing at all.]

Have you spoken with Illumi's demon since?

We don't know how Polly summoned so many of them, and we don't know if these other demons are even new. Maybe they've been here all along and are coming back to take their territory.

[But yeah. Not comfortable, is it?] Izuminokami's death is avenged as of tomorrow, and yet...it still happened just because we fought back. I haven't gone back to speak to the demon and I don't plan to. Have you?

Not really a hydra in the sense of "more appear once you cut one down", then? If they've been here this whole time, anyway.

[Who even knows how these damn demons work anymore!! He sure doesn't!! But he makes a little aimless humming noise in response to that. Knowing that they're met with tooth and nail in turn isn't surprising, but it still leaves a sour taste after an earlier victory. Anyway, demons! Much lighter topic!]

It still might be. We're hitting the point where we have to start looking at the information we receive and decide what is and isn't real.

Nope! Though it could have been lying about that, of course. I have a feeling it isn't just because of how upset it seemed, but then again, it isn't exactly on our side just because it's not on theirs.

[Especially if it apparently axed Kanesada for getting one of their own...]

All demons are free agents of chaos? [Tiredly.] It would make sense. If Polly just summoned a bunch of them without really knowing about what she was doing, we could've attracted a bunch of entities that wanted to outdo each other in the first place.

Well! From my experience, things like this don't tend to cooperate well at all. Temporary alliances might be possible, but otherwise... [A little shrug.] We can hope their penchant for turning on each other works in our favor, at least a little.

Tricking them would be difficult, but I do think that as long as they aren't focused on beating us, they would naturally turn on each other.
