[He just. Holds up his notebook he's been scribbling in.]
Not that my notes will always make sense to me later, but...I'm trying to leave an updated account of everything that's going on. You know. In case something happens.
I don't think I'd even think of it if I didn't just discover I can change timelines back home. But I keep notes for cases I'm working on and stuff anyway, so it's not that different.
I was about to say! You strike me as the sort of person who'd keep notes regardless of any timeline nonsense, you know? Even if you weren't working on anything in particular, you seem like a note-taker.
Do I? [That's fine, he's just a little bemused by that even if he can't even deny it.] I used to mostly work with numbers so that's a little surprising. I wasn't exactly a great student.
Mm! It's that meticulous air you have! Like things rarely escape your notice, you know?
[POINTING but not accusingly, it's just an aimless gesture. He taps his glass on the counter again.]
I'm sure you have plans and back-up plans for your back-up plans - or would if you could - and that it's all written somewhere in shorthand we'll all get a headache trying to parse through.
...I actually work better on impulse half the time, but there's so much here that writing it down and putting it together made more sense. But everything will be in a notebook if I die as long as you know where to look.
[His eyebrows raise a little at that, but he's still grinning, himself.]
Not surprised by that, either. Survivalists! Always thinking on their feet. [Though his grin softens just a teeny, tiny bit after.] Anyway, good as it is to be prepared, let's hope things never come to that.
[Just. A huff. It's kind of amused and kind of exasperated all at once.]
Thanks for the concern. [But he waves a hand.] And the info. I definitely appreciate that. I'll see you later, but let me know if anything else comes up.

[Like he fucking dies, he means.]

Right, right - wouldn't expect anything less of you. Well! That's good, at least. One more thing you've already prepared for.

[He says like a liar, but damn does he say it with confidence.
In any case, if there's even a damn drop left in his glass, he finishes it off and sets the cup back down.]
Anyway, I'll be heading back now - that's more or less all I wanted to say. Take a nap or something, would you? Your air of exhaustion is leaking out.
[WHOSE FAULT IS THAT.]

Mm, of course! I'll let you know right away.
[But up he'll go, pushing the glass over and then turning to leave with a wave. Bye nerd.]
