[A cheers to GODDAMN USELESS DEMONS!! He takes a swig and invites himself in, heading straight for the couch. Sorry to Beck for gremlin-screeching hour.]
We know a little more about how the demon works now, so maybe that's a good thing. Did you get a chance to talk to Monika at all before she was taken away?
[Up onto his perch he goes!! He fishes a bag of chips out from between the cushions and offers it Junpei's way...]
I did, but it was all useless, of course. Wouldn't give any information, said its name was-- what was it, Rumpelstiltskin? Whatever that is. [NO IDEA BUT HE KNOWS IT'S A LIE.] I do intend to try talking to it again before the exorcism tomorrow, though. What about you? Anything useful?
[He looks at the chips curiously before shoving his hand into the bag and pulling out a handful to munch on.]
Creative. [It's not, given the way he rolls his eyes.] Nothing yet, but I haven't gone to see her either. I figure everybody's gonna be bombarding her so I'm waiting before the exorcism tomorrow. Or, at least, really late tonight. I don't know what kind of information I'll get out of her, if any, but I'd like to see this thing up close and personal myself from a face I'm neutral toward.
[He was never really friends with Monika. They spoke once, and he had an opinion about her, but to him she's just an unfortunate victim holding a really shitty and annoying demon.]
[Toasting a chip in Junpei's direction. He's been doing a lot of toasting tonight because life has been extra exhausting tonight.]
Just take care if you do. Obviously it won't be able to re-possess anyone else or cause much harm tonight, assuming it's bound to the same rules we are, in a way... But we still know very little about its abilities, motives, so on. [Waves a hand.] Wouldn't want you putting a target on your back accidentally just because you decided to give it the time of day.
[He'd honestly discourage everyone from visiting Demonika if he could but people will be people...]
I'm pretty sure I put a target on my back as it is according to what you told me yesterday. [Just saying.] So I figure it probably can't get any worse.
[He just LAUGHS and toasts another chip Junpei's way before cramming it into his terrible gremlin mouth.]
Mm, sounds like as good a place as any to start. I'd like to know a little more about what it is, so I'll be giving that line of conversation a shot, myself. [Grabbing another handful of chips.] And I'd like to see if I can contact Monika while I'm at it.
Won't know unless I give it a shot, right? Besides-- ...Considering how unlikely it is that she'll be able to get much closure on this end, I'd like to see if there's anything important she has to say that I can bring back, if need be.
[Ah, the soft heart under his crusty punk exterior.]
...that's almost nice of you. [Teasing. That really is sort of sweet, and he can agree with that.] I hope she's open to that then. It's the least she deserves even if the demon's really irritating.
Keep me posted and I'll do the same. I have a couple of things to look into and people to catch up with...there's a lot more going on here than we think, and I'm not convinced people don't know more than they're letting on.
[Leaning forward to catch it with his mouth like a fiend.]
Thanks! [And while he's munching away:] Will do, will do. Good luck on your end, too - though I do have to ask, what's made you come to that conclusion?
Things are running a little too smoothly, don't you think? Like someone's watching us and orchestrating stuff to make sure things are going the right way.
[wwx probably does but i sure fuckin dont since i have nothing even resembling a brain in my skull so thank you for sparing me
NOT THAT IT MATTERS since Wei Wuxian, regardless of whether or not he actually crunches the numbers, just arches a brow and fishes another chip from the bag.]
Something very slim, I'm sure. Odds enough that no gambling man would take them!
One out of 216. 0.46%. [He reaches into his pocket, pulling out three six-sided dice and rolling them around in his hand as he thinks.]
"The one who lives on does so due to circumstance." [He waves a hand.] Things are rarely, if ever, about fortune or miracles. It's always about probability, the order of operations, and the fact that things exist and we know they exist because of the people who exist to observe them. There are multiple timelines where things maybe wouldn't be going so well, but we don't know about them because there aren't people around to tell us.
[...on the contrary.] But at the same time, we know at least one exists where it didn't go well because all of those people are dead and we've been told by someone who observed it.
[He's a pretty sharp dude, but he's still from Ancient Fantasy China where the weirdest shit that happens is related to multiple worlds rather than timelines. He's very visibly mentally chewing on this new information.]
So what you're saying, then, is that in some other time - multiple other times, maybe? - the same situation played out to different ends, and we're just one in a set going through the same motions? Is that it - something like that?
It's entirely possible based on what happened. Maybe it's part of the same timeline, maybe it's not. But what we know for sure is that this happened before and the set-up is exactly the same as what happened previously. It's our job to change what went wrong in the middle.
I'd rather not be down to twelve of us by the time we hit the four week mark.
So it seems. [Shrug! This is great! Really!] We need to start locating more of the logs and records from the first group. We had an audio log, and Dick and Aizawa found a journal when they broke into the electric room. It's not hard to think they're out there.

Good question! Not that I have an answer to it.

[Life's the same no matter where you go okay, whether it's murderboats or demons THERE'S ALWAYS ROOM FOR THINGS TO GO EVEN MORE TO SHIT.
He goes for the bottle and for another drink.]
Have anything in particular you're planning to ask?

I wanna know what caused the change in plan mostly. See if I can figure out what sort of motivations it has.

[Said like a shitpunk who's swerving admitting that his heart is actually soft, god.]
But I hope so, too. I don't expect to get much of use out of that demon, but I'd like to walk away knowing I was able to do something.
