[Nothing is ever easy!! Funny how life is just Like That. He gives Junpei a look that's creased with a mild sympathy...]
...Well, as much as I hate to say it, having someone with your kind of experience around here is probably a good thing. Not very fine luck for you, though.
Yeah. I got that impression. [Exhausting, but doable.] Me and Carlos both, so...maybe that's why they sent him to that other dimension or whatever and left me here? I can't say for sure.
Might be the case. Better to spread out the experts and cover as much ground as possible... Though it does sound like he just happened to be a victim of particularly egregious misfortune.
[Impressive in the worst way, but still impressive! You hold that anger Junpei, you little gremlin.]
Still nothing that I'd look at and think is immediately relevant, honestly... Not with the people here or with any of the things we've run into on this boat. You?
We've got some people who've dealt with demons before, some people who've been locked up before, the whole group of swords who are used to fighting enemies that require discipline...they're all in little groups, but nothing that connects every single person.
Mm... Maybe that's a pattern in and of itself? I'd like to know more about the makeup of the group or groups that came before us, to be honest. It'd be useful to see how we compare.
[TIME TO ADD GHOST HUNTING TO THE LIST OF THINGS TO HUNT.]
I'd like to know the same. We know there was a group, same amount of us as there are now, but we don't know anything about them except for some letters and that some of them were related. That doesn't help us.
[...] ...then again, there's also the idea that some of us were here the first time, too.
[Probably unsurprisingly, he doesn't seem that surprised to hear the speculation. There's a quiet sort of curiosity, though, and he cants his head a little to one side.]
Survivors back for a second round, hm? Haha, if that's true, they certainly have the worst luck out of all of us.
Well, you just said that I didn't have the best of luck so you're probably right. [There's. An implication there. But he doesn't elaborate to see what Wei Wuxian figures from the sentence.]
[Takin' that there sticky note to look at! Hm. HM.]
...Hah, poor man's fortune, indeed. [fuckin rip junpei. He'll hold it back out, thoughtful.] So you think you were here before and left it for yourself - or just left it behind in general? Is there any reason you believe that over the possibility of being possessed by this or that and being made to write it recently?
Most likely I left it for myself. At first, I thought it was because of a SHIFT. It would explain why Carlos and I woke up here in the first place. If I had traded places with another version of myself, that would make sense...even if it still implies I was here already.
But the only reason I don't think it was me being possessed is because this was before Polly even unleashed the demons. So how do you explain that?
Well, you know. Demons. [WAVES A HAND even if that's not an explanation at all - it's just meant as a "who even knows what they're capable of", but it's a pretty dismissive statement since it's clear he thinks Junpei's first theory is sound enough.]
So? What do you think it means? Look for a camera? I'm assuming you found it when you stumbled across that room with Beck earlier.
I found the note and that's the main reason we thought to check the video camera itself. We saw the versions of ourselves that didn't have faces but were covered in blood. Higekiri and I were dead, and Beck's demon was way too content with that. The only thing I can think of is that my other self knew, and wanted to warn me earlier than he found out.
Haha... So we're essentially playing a guessing game of "try to stop the murders from happening before they happen, but first you have to figure out what they are"?
[Seems like a game they're destined to lose!! Also he sure fuckin hopes Beck doesn't get possessed, goddamn.]
...Cryptic warnings are better than nothing when we already have so little to go off of, I guess.
For now... Though I do hope we'll be able to find something somewhere along the line to work with that's a little more straightforward. Not that I don't love a good mystery!
[But also, he's not a fan of being right in the heart of it? Why does this keep happening??]

...but I never thought about it as splitting the expertise. Maybe you're onto something.

[GOOD WORK TEAM yall doing great. But his shoulders raise in a little shrug at that.]
Might be something to keep in mind when looking for patterns, at least. Not that we have much else to go off of just yet.

Have you noticed any patterns so far? I've been looking on my own, but I don't see or talk to everybody.

What? You can't just say that and not explain the rest. Don't leave me on that kind of note!

Found it in a drawer in one of the locked rooms. I still don't have a complete explanation.
