[...HE TAKES A DRINK BECAUSE HAHA, OOPS. But he mumbles something that sounds like a muffled version of "morphogenetic field" and it echos in his glass. Have fun Carlos!]
[.......................... GIVING JUNPEI A LOOK LIKE YOU! BITCH! HE KNOWS WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!! Why is exposition being left up to him. He's only known about his powers for, like. A little over a week? Bitch!!!]
... Uh. [UH.] Have you ever heard of the Morphogenetic Field, Beck?
Man why do I have to explain it? [But alright, alright...] The Morphogentic Field is an invisible space that's used as a way to pass information between living things. Telepathy is a form of use, for example. When information exists in the field, it kind of resonates with other living beings.
[A drink.] Here's an example. There was an experiment in Britain, I think, that asked a group of people to identify two pictures. Thousand people. One picture was of a dog, and one was a lady in a hat. A little over 9% of people could see the lady, but only 4% could see the dog as a dog. Later, though, the same experiment was televised somewhere else in the world. That experiment only had 850 people but it involved the same pictures. The number of people who identified the lady was almost the same, the dog results doubled. It's because the solution of the pictures transmitted through the field.
People with really strong connections to the field can do things like send mental messages to each other, or alter the consciousness of another person. There're also people who have the ability to see across multiple timelines and universes. They can see different outcomes and different memories of their other selves...and they can also jump timelines by sending their consciousness through the field to another version of themselves.
...we're called espers. [Okay, thanks, storytime over! He looks at Carlos to see if he has anything to add.]
Because, uh, you've known about it for the longest time.
[Out of the two of them, anyway. Don't make Carlos give out exposition. He's the baby ESPer here. :( Sad. He rubs his neck once Junpei has finished, though, glancing over to Beck.]
It's just like Junpei said. We're espers. I've always been able to use the field to know which paths have death at the end, but...
...you know what, sure. That's not a bad way to describe it. That's almost easier, like a fourth dimension. [Instead of literally every way it was ever explained to him. ] I'm not really sure what makes it so a person can access that dimension. It's something to do with human conscience being higher I think. Some people develop their powers early and some don't access the field for a long time. Carlos didn't know until recently, and it's only been about a year for me. We're also both able to SHIFT if conditions are met, but we haven't been able to here.
[A look to Carlos. ] You get to explain SHIFTing. You're the one who started that first.

[Give her a few moments to try and wrap her head around this. She's definitely making the math lady meme face.]
Like some kind of pocket dimension that contains a bunch of information only certain people can access?
