PRIVATE CONVERSATION FILTER TUTORIAL

Let's talk about private conversations...yaaaaay!

What is a private conversation? A private conversation (or a PC) is a conversation between two (or more) characters that is only visible to those involved. A player can use a PC for anything they don't wish to thread in public whether that's CR-building, secret exchanges, sensitive information, etc. While posting in public and mingling during events and trials is encouraged, PCs are a great way to enhance the murdergame experience and cultivate your CR and development.

PCs can be set anywhere in the game setting that your character has IC access to. These should be posted to a character journal and then filtered to the characters involved, along with the respective mod journal. Once your PC has been created, please report it to the PC reporting page (ideally within 24 hours, but at least try to do these before the new week starts please!) Please note: characters may not have PCs Thursday during curfew, Friday morning before the body announcement, during the Saturday trial itself, or during Sunday's execution. All other times are fair.

Since filters are not used much outside of murdergames, check out this tutorial about how to create them!

Step One

At the top of the DW navigation bar, hover over "Organize", and click on "Manage Filters"

Step Two

From here, select "Manage your access filters"

Step Three

Here, you will want to select the button at the bottom that says "New." Label your new filter, and then select "OK". You can really name these whatever you want. For ease, you can simply label them with the character name. Or you can go as unhinged as you'd like.

Step Four

From here, you'll see the current filter you just created highlighted in the column on the left. In the center column, you can select whatever character journal you would like to add to this filter by selecting them, and clicking "add." Character journals in the right-hand column are all journals that are on this particular filter. Be sure to hit "save changes" when you're done adding, or your filters will remain empty! You can add or remove characters from filters as you'd like (very useful if you accidentally add someone to a filter they shouldn't be on!) You can opt to add the mod journal to every filter you set up, or you may create a mod-only filter that can be added to posts as you go.

Step Five

Once you're ready to make a post, go ahead and create one as usual. At the bottom of the entry, you will see the option for who you'd like to show the entry to. Click the dropdown, and change it to "custom filter." From here, you will see every filter that you've made on your journal. Select the box for the filter you want to grant access to, and hit post.

And that's how you set up your filters!
