[There's a nod. He can appreciate getting to the point, but at the same time there's something in his expression that doesn't seem comfortable hearing that. Mostly out of confusion.]
Alright. Thanks for the heads up. [...] We're still missing a few, and Izuminokami's role is going to move. So we still have to find the rest.
I doubt she did. She wasn't aware there were multiple Cockblockers when I talked to her before our meeting Thursday.
[...well now he just looks. Annoyed.] Does Dick just tell you everything? [But he looks at the sky instead.] Chuuya already told me to get over it and I already get it's my own problem, so no. It won't be. I'm still working with everyone the way we're supposed to. Whatever that is.
We talked about the trial. Haymitch came up. I asked. Blame me if you want, but Dick isn't at fault.
Good, because I doubt Haymitch's thrilled that I didn't oppose Edelgard's accusation, and I'd hate for Taako to sit there alone wondering what in the Veil happened since last time.
I'm not blaming anybody. [He's rubbing his forehead carefully.] I just didn't know we were airing out my issues this weekend.
[But. Hum.] Haymitch doesn't know about Edelgard because I didn't get a chance to tell him and Taako doesn't do good in very serious situations anyway. I didn't entirely oppose Edelgard's accusation either but at the same time we still don't really know how it all works.
I can help with damage control when necessary but that sort of thinking was why I didn't want people airing out the details of every other role we've found.
Haymitch and Katy mostly since that's who he spilled everything to. While in the room with Beck and Dick. Edelgard got on my case about potentially being a liability because my questioning wasn't ruthless enough with Escha, but those two just showed their hand with each other, too. [To explain, he pauses enough to gather his thoughts.] I want to trust them, by the way. Even though Katy also got on my ass about not telling her everything and for being unhappy Haymitch spilled everything, and even though I asked him not to reveal too much yet while we were still working on finding the rest. But when one of our roles already died for doing his job, how are we supposed to protect all of the others? I don't know. Maybe I really am just being stupid about it.
You'd probably know them better than me. I don't talk to either a lot. Haymitch, barely at all. To be blunt, he strikes me as hypocritical. Quick to interrogate anyone at the slightest suspicion, but as soon as it falls on someone he cares about, he acts as if it's injustice.
None of it's necessarily a bad thing. It's the normal way to act—very human. Katy, as well.
Edelgard's the opposite. Good intentions and wants the same thing as us, but would also throw away any of us to achieve that and expects other people to use her the same way. It's unsurprising that both parties came into conflict.
I think you know them better than you think because those are my assessments too. That's the reason I'm wary about all of them. It's easier to betray people when you have something or someone you're working toward.
[But...ugh.] Edelgard tends to talk down to me so I admittedly listen to her ideas less. Haymitch I respected before this but...we can break the news to him Tuesday. I'm hoping to have some more to report by then, too. Tomorrow will be spent trying to track down Izuminokami's role.
I'm not too surprised about Edelgard, though she seems to back off once she warms up to you. She actually apologized to me when she realized she was giving me orders without asking, when I didn't even mind.
At least there are only so many options. But I agree—Izuminokami's role is important to find.
It's probably more important that you two get along if you're going to try and coordinate and work together. Have you already talked to her today?
I have a list to work with that I can start checking out for his old role. [Oh. Wait. ] I have a meeting with Shiraishi tomorrow morning, too, so if you have a suggestion who he should choose let me know.
Whether I get along with someone is irrelevant to me. But it does help that she seems to like me, and to be honest, I sympathize with her. Her way of viewing the world seems lonely.
Irrelevant though it may be, you know how I feel about that. [There's a light smile, and then:] ...I think I was just mad about the Haymitch thing because we're very similar people. And I know what people like that are capable of.
[Anyway.] I'm still trying to figure out the logistics of Shiraishi's role since we know the Cockblockers protect in different ways. He seems to think his worked but we also don't know if his target was in any real danger in the first place.
Not yet. But if you're okay with it I can take care of it. He doesn't actually know about Dick's real role and we may as well keep it that way. He still doesn't know mine either but he knows I've been finding the roles.
Yeah, Dick told me that he let Shiraishi live with false assumptions. Can't blame him.
[he shrugs.]
Talk about it with Dick. Apparently Shiraishi's already asked him about the detection role, so I don't know if Dick's made a move on that front since we spoke about it.

How many more people do you have to link up?

Dick told me about your issues with Haymitch. Is that going to be a problem at our next meeting?

[...]
Which "them"?
