Hopefully. [He lingers on the question.] ...I think he was still trying to beat himself up, so probably as well as you'd expect. He told us what he needed to so we know what to look for if it happens again.

The problem I'm running into is finding where it started. I'm not sure this is the same thing Polly unleashed or not.

If it's not the same thing than we have an even bigger problem. But...then it's a question of do we tell everybody and knowingly set off a panic of who has this thing? Or do we try to track it on our own?

I know who had it last, but you're right. It's probably moving because most people won't wait around for their will to break. Could be what they're counting on.

What's its end goal, though? Something happens to whoever has it when time's up?

...you saw what happened to Carlos and Polly, didn't you? What do you think?

[BAD.] I can't get an exact number, but we can assume anywhere between five and ten. So...almost a third of us if we're thinking on the larger scale, a fifth of us on the smaller side.

And with the caveat that we have to sleep with each other to live or get into that gift shop, the cycle's not going to stop. As soon as the first person passed it, we were already doomed.

...but maybe this explains how they went from thirty-three to twelve in four weeks.

Mostly that you seem to be trustworthy even if you don't always have a lot to say. [So. Very Hige.] What do you think of his assessment?

It's for others to decide whether I'm trustworthy or not. But he knows I consider it my duty to help others.

Well...I'm here, aren't I? I can at least respect people who trust me enough in the first place. [Interesting though.] And Dick must've thought the same if he went to you about the sex demons in the first place.

... Among other things. But yes—part of watching over the border between life and death means preventing unnecessary deaths to begin with.
