I doubt a role exists just to punish those who break the rules. Who'd punish them, after all?

Your host didn't tell you? There are consequences if we break our own rules...but I don't think anybody's actually tried yet. So there's maybe something bigger here. Like whoever gave us these roles in the first place.

Probably. We still haven't gotten any leads on that, as far as I know.

I'm hoping once we figure out all of them maybe somebody can give some answers. [He looks to the sky.] If what you guys heard in that arcade is true, we're probably looking for thirteen people. Once those numbers are found? I'm betting something happens.

We'll see. The rule against outing yourself or letting other people out you with your permission is going to make it difficult, though—if the point is that everyone finds everyone.

[crashout]

Wait is that really a rule that you can't out other people? [There's a frown of thought, but okay.] Maybe it's not that everyone has to find everyone, but if we can get everybody to figure it out in groups we can swing things in our favor.

[preceptive]

You can't use other people to out your own role. Escha was probably fine telling you about me because I didn't okay it. However, I doubt I would've been able to tell you when I figured her out, because she'd told me then that she wanted you to know and I would've been acting with that knowledge.

Basically, it has to be independent of the role's will.

I can try asking the hosts about it at my next meeting, though I don't know if it'll turn anything up.

The rules kind of sound like a pain in the ass. But good to know. I'd rather not make it worse for you guys.

It's worth asking, I think. I figure the more questions asked the more we can rule out either way, so isn't that a win in and of itself?

Chuuya, at least, approved of me asking questions on the basis of "worth a shot", so why not?

That's because Chuuya's one of the more tolerable hosts. [There's a grin. But okay...]

Anyway...you were gonna teach me how to maybe stay alive better. What've you got for me?

He's a lot better than Nathan.

I can throw punches when I need to? [Joking aside, he shrugs.] And firearms. I've been trained with pistols for my job. Not always the most useful here.

Oh. Yeah, obviously. [Just. Throwing that out there.] Better me than someone who doesn't know how to use it.

I think so. It's one less thing we have to worry about, but we're stuck with people who can still use poisons and bludgeoning tools and stuff. It almost feels like a game of chance.

[preceptive]

It'd probably be cheating if we could take away every means of killing—although then, I wouldn't be surprised if the demons got creative.

[crashout]

There's still plenty of ways to kill someone without weapons and that's probably the worst of it. But it makes you wonder why take away people's powers if they wanted to kill us off in the first place. What're they really waiting for?

[preceptive]

Whatever brought us here evidently wants our survival as a potential option—no reason to provide exorcism means or select the hosts to help us, after all.

[crashout]

It feels familiar. [It's what he chooses to say.] With everything we've heard about the last group...have we heard anything about hosts? What if that's unique to us?

[preceptive]

No. It doesn't sound like they had hosts.

And Tamamo told you about the vision she saw, right? If we're interpreting the order correctly, people started killing before demons were summoned.

[crashout]

Yeah, she and Izuminokami came to see me right after they got out of the room. It almost sounded like what happened with Polly and the others though with the sacrifices and stuff.

If we're supposed to learn from the other group's mistakes, that would explain the hosts. But it also opens up the chance for other things about this version of events to be changed to benefit us. We just have to find out what they are.

[preceptive]
