The group who were sent to the breakroom had to play a game, too. Not the same kind you did, it was a card game. But two of them that I talked to confirmed they had a fourth player. Some...shadow thing, but they both recognized it as someone different. After they were knocked out, the thing was gone the next time they woke up.

Ah... That sounds more like the use of an illusion than a spirit's ability. Maybe a mix of the two? There are arts in my world that can do things like that - trick the eye into seeing something that isn't there. Then again, there are spirits that can do the same. Nothing happened after that to me, but something touched Dimitri later when he didn't play along with the rules.

I figured it happened because I touched the box. Every other time we picked one, we just said our choice and they would raise on their own... So maybe I broke a rule in a way, too? Just one that they didn't warn us about. But if it was similar to what Beck described, then maybe that wasn't the case.

Something grabbed Beck when we started playing with the switchboard and playing cassettes in the recording studio. But at the same time, the video we were watching started flipping out and we saw the faceless versions of ourselves for the first time.
Prompto's camera revealed similar figures when I looked at his photos from the other day. People have wondered if the items themselves are possessed, and I don't know how to really answer that with something that isn't "yeah, obviously."
Haha, yeah, she told me about that. [And he proceeded to accidentally scare the shit out of her with BLOOD MAGIC, rip.] Seems like it's probably the same sort of trick that got us both, at least... Same with the photos, too. And they probably are! It's best to purify them if you can.

It's a definitely possibility and it wouldn't be the first time I've seen that sort of thing happen. Usually, the people who do this don't have the same, ah... tastes... as whoever is behind this, but. [SHRUG. Some people are just wild.

It's this invisible space that exists as a way to pass information between living organisms...so, basically like telepathy, if you're familiar with that. People with the ability to access the field can change things about their consciousness and the consciousness of other people. So, in a way, it's possible that if they're really demons or some from of a living spirit, they're getting their orders from somewhere else outside of what most people can see.

...That's a possibility too, I think. And maybe a strong one. "Find the source of the distortion" sounds less like it's referring to a straight-forward murderer and more like some form of corruption.
Especially if it's also something we're supposed to dispatch. Like an exorcism, or breaking whatever control is holding the culprit. [He leaves the book in his lap to grab his clamshell.]
Things are starting to get a time limit, too. Two hours to look around today, nine hours to find the source of distortion, and then only a few hours after that the dispatch of the source. Maybe whatever the corruption is only has enough power for so long.
It would be a little unusual for something powerful enough to pull some of the stunts we've seen to be working on a time limit, but every resource has its end. You might be on to something there...

I've got to say, I'm a little concerned about what happens if we don't find the source of the distortion by the end of those nine hours.
Isn't it obvious? Whatever it is gets to go free. But there's also nothing that says Sunday's rule doesn't go into effect if that happens. [ ...] Some of the rules we're missing might appear once the nine hours are over. Then we can decide.
