Death has always been a possibility here, but this is something a little more...real, I guess. [He doesn't mind, that's cool. Drinking is probably not the worst idea.]

Well thought. It would not do to start only when they demand us to. But I, unfortunately, had not seen him in recent days, with the library taking up my time.

A lot of people spent their time there, and it's a crime scene now, too. We should keep that in mind. I saw him yesterday myself but nothing seemed weird. That's what I don't understand is what happened overnight.

There's a difference between being awake while we're asleep and being awake knowing nobody can stop you while you torture someone first before you kill them, isn't there? Someone who knew that would have collected the appropriate tools and planned ahead.

Yes.... I hardly doubt all of that could have been plotted and put into play all in one evening. It was far too spread out for that. [ unless it just... happened as they went which is kinda yike but there's not enough blood around?? Demons, pls explain. ]

I wish there was a better way of protecting those who remain awake. [ scondoms aside that is ]

I've been thinking the same. People have said we can ask our hosts for tasks in exchange for favors, but I don't know if that's something they could do. It might be worth asking though if this keeps happening.

Is that so? I've been meaning to speak with them but the timing has never worked out. [ he doesn't want to bother them with unnecessary chit chat ): ] But if they can provide some sort of aid then I shall hasten my approach.

I think it's the best strategy. They seem to want to help but they can't just offer us whatever without something in exchange. It's in their rules of being the hosts or something.

Mm... I would have figured as much. They seem to be bound by their own rules given their frustration at trials. [ it's been a little hard not to notice that ] They certainly do not have it any easier than us, it seems.

It feels like they should but somehow I think they have it worse. I'd be pretty pissed if I had the answers and couldn't share. So...we figure out how to work with them.

It's rather frustrating, isn't it? I only wish it were easier to figure out how to obtain the information without frustration from both sides. [ time to find out if there are 'blink once for yes' loopholes in their rules ]

But, yes. I shall if the event were to occur. [ because he trusts junpei's opinion to lead him the right way ]

That's why we keep trying with everything we know how to use. [A pause.] Izuminokami was...always kind of trying to get me to work with a team. So I'm doing my best to make sure people know what our options are. I think he'd want us working together, too.

He's far more used to working within a unit I'd believe. The Shinsengumi were always a tightknit group. [ unlike his team of foolios who can barely get four out of their six to function as a unit ] It would do right to keep a team going to keep up a possible defense against these creatures.

So I've heard. [He remembers a little from elementary school history and general studies on his own, not to mention things Kanesada said. Nevertheless, there's a huff as he shakes his head.]

It's going to be a challenge to get some people to agree, but we can figure it out. We have nothing left to lose.

It's perhaps for the best that only one of their group was here. [ he says this with the utmost fondness but he's also Very Familiar with how the shinsengumi swords are together as a whole ]

I have no doubt they together could have made it happen but perhaps even without the others, this specific group of people will find it better to eventually work together than separate against these demons.

Well you've been making allies of your own, haven't you? Are you finding it easier to talk to people now?

I have. It's still a little odd but there certainly have been reasons to. [ amazing what happens when you're stuck on a cursed ship together ]

The situation's never going to stop being weird, I think. But as long as we find new reasons at least we can keep moving forward. It's...helpful to know everyone a little better now than we initially did.

Mm. Our relationships can only grow and despite what initially brought us all here, I certainly have not minded the outcome.
