[It's been a long evening. At some point, Junpei finds himself finally venturing out of his room again and heading downstairs toward the break room. He's not interested in actual food, but a snack might not hurt. His movements are slow and even though he's moving pretty decently he's trying to keep his focus.
He gets stopped at some point, but eventually he enters the room and spots someone on their way out. Normally, he'd bypass, but...well, let's just say an impression was left.]
Izuminokami. [Yup. The whole-ass name, just like he asked. It's kind of a greeting and kind of a question of "what are you doing here?" That's all he says though to see how the sword reacts.]
[ after they'd confirmed that there was still no way to get to the lower levels, kanesan has been restlessly wandering the two floors they can explore. being unable to do anything is more frustrating than he can stand - so when he sees junpei he stops short before breaking into a relieved smile. ]
Yes, of course! We heard you and the others through the floor, so I thought you might be hurt, but there was no way to get to the lower levels to try and help...
[ ...wait. ]
The doors never unlocked for us. So how did you get back?
[Hm. Suspicious. Also there's something a little funny about a sword saying "yo" and he looks a little surprised before there's an equally quick wave.]
Hey. Good call, I did. Did Hizamaru tell you already? [He's not sure if that would be better or worse, but admittedly he's curious what went down with Kanesan.]
[ once the general discussion is over, kanesan is going to check on junpei! something about how he'd reacted to carlos missing doesn't set well with him, so wherever he is, surprise! there's a sword coming to say hello. ]
Junpei. How are you holding up?
[ he'll ask about the rest later - there's no point in asking if junpei is okay, but. kanesan still has to check on him first. ]
[Well. Haha! Junpei seems to be idly pacing around the elevator, around the first floor, just sort of moving and trying to think. Luckily he stops when he hears Kanesan though and he turns, blinking in surprise before seemingly remembering how to respond.]
Better than Chuuya and Nathan, at least. [Bad joke time? Bad joke time! Sometimes that's just how you cope.] Everything okay?
[ haha well that sure was a mess!! it sure happened!! who knew humans could melt like swords? it's honestly a lot weirder than he might have expected, and since one of them was a friend of junpei's...
well. someone's gotta check on the guy. kanesan likes him well enough to do so himself, so wherever you are jumpy, he's coming for you. ]
Yo. How are you feeling after... everything?
[ they won't get anywhere if they just dance around this feeling thing. might as well ask straight out, even if kanesan thinks he knows the answer already. ]
[Melting humans sure is bad! Junpei's lingering around in front of one of the windows, staring at a landscape of the desert when Kanesan approaches. He doesn't exactly turn his head, but he nods in acknowledgement.]
...I'm trying to figure that out. [Which is a different answer than what others may get, but he figures he may as well be honest with Kanesan.] There's a lot to think about now that the game's really started. [It's not a game, but the word is a reflex.]
Losing a comrade is diffult, in more ways than one. You should take your time figuring it out. But if you need someone to talk to, my door is open to you, Junpei.
[ there's a thoughtful hum but he's not disagreeing. ]
Yeah. Do you think what Polly said is true - that we have to do the fucking to avoid making ourselves targets for the demons she summoned?
[ he's a little bothered they can't just cut them down honestly ]
[ hmmmmm that was not a great thing to learn about in trial!! awesome!! but anyway he has a few things to talk to junpei about so wherever you are, jumpy, there's a frowning sword coming your way.
but first... ]
You were friends with Prompto, weren't you? How are you doing?
[ seems like he's had a rough two weeks, losing two friends in a row like this. ]
[He has a feeling that maybe this is going to be a somewhat delicate conversation, but there's a bow of his head at the question.]
...can't say I'm happy it's like this, but...I'm better off than other people. It'll be weird without him though. [He literally decided they were friends like two days ago so this kinda sucks.]
[ junpei... wherever the fuck he is, let's say the downstairs lounge, kanesan is looking for him. that was a rough trial, in so many ways, and he believes that junpei should not be alone right now.
and yet, when he speaks, his voice is almost gentle. ]
[As good a guess as any. He's hidden away but Kanesada finds him anyway which maybe isn't that surprising. He doesn't know what to do with the tone, but he looks up and inclines his head in a greeting.]
Hey. Doing okay? [Let's never talk about anything ever again.]
[ haha wow he's not in the mood to dance around it tonight. there is a thinly veiled anger in his voice, but it isn't directed at junpei, or anyone, really. ]
[After this weekend, Junpei finds himself a little worn down but still it's back to business. It's back to finding people and theorizing and checking the new rooms, and so when he enters the garden and finds Kanesada there he can't help but relax just slightly.]
...it's sort of nice, isn't it? Dicks aside. [Hm.] I don't mind the ocean but it gets sort of sickening to watch after a while.
Like a farm? [Somehow he thinks that makes sense, but it's not like Junpei's ever been on a real farm himself.] I've always thought growing your own vegetables would be a lot harder than something like this. Too bad we can't try it ourselves here.
[Why? Simply to have a hand in changing things themselves.]
Every time a new floor opens on this ship, I wonder how deep this thing really goes.
W0, SUNDAY;

week 0, thursday
Yo, Junpei.
[ just a quick wave in greeting before getting down to business: ]
You received a mission yesterday, too, didn’t you?
no subject
Hey. Good call, I did. Did Hizamaru tell you already? [He's not sure if that would be better or worse, but admittedly he's curious what went down with Kanesan.]
no subject
Hizamaru...? Was he with you?
[ WHY DON'T ANY OF THESE SWORDS COMMUNICATE. ARE THEY NOT A TEAM. ]
He didn't mention anything. Tonbokiri told me he received a message on the shell device yesterday morning, same as me. What did it ask you to do?

As okay as it can be, all things considered.

[ he glances away, troubled. ]
I'm worried about Hizamaru, too. We're all familiar with death, but losing someone we care about never gets easier, no matter how old we are.
